I currently work at the central services of the Federal Public Service Finance. My department, Tax Procedure and Obligations (in Dutch: Taxatieprocedure en Verplichtingen), is responsible for designing and updating administrative doctrine in the broadest sense. My team, Income Tax, is responsible for matters relating to the establishment of the tax, the valuation procedure, the obligations of the taxpayers, the possibilities of investigation of the administration, the means of evidence and administrative and criminal penalties. We provide advice, draw up instructions or circulars for colleagues and deal with very specific problems arising in the field or coming from our management, parliamentary questions or questions from international bodies such as the European Commission or the OECD.
