AS A PROFESSIONAL JURIST
2019 - now
I currently work at the central services of the Federal Public Service Finance. My department, Tax Procedure and Obligations (in Dutch: Taxatieprocedure en Verplichtingen), is responsible for designing and updating administrative doctrine in the broadest sense. My team, Income Tax, is responsible for matters relating to the establishment of the tax, the valuation procedure, the obligations of the taxpayers, the possibilities of investigation of the administration, the means of evidence and administrative and criminal penalties. We provide advice, draw up instructions or circulars for colleagues and deal with very specific problems arising in the field or coming from our management, parliamentary questions or questions from international bodies such as the European Commission or the OECD.
AS A VOLUNTEER
2020 - now
I volunteer at Red Cross Flanders as a monitor at a summer camp for socially vulnerable children. Giving those children, most of which reside in closed institutions, one care-free week in summer filled with fun and games, is definitely worth my vacation days and every last bit of energy I have (because that's what it takes!).
AS A JOB STUDENT
When I started at Utopolis Turnhout, a movie theater, I did mostly general clean-up and operated the cash register for a couple of months.
2013 - 2016
After I was picked as student-projectionist out of three candidates (this was the job I had originally applied for), I operated and maintained the movie projectors, while helping to streamline and automate the different processes. I also helped the supervisors in their day-to-day management.
2016 - 2019
The automation process was such a success it was decided a full-time projectionist was no longer needed. Once Utopolis was bought by UGC Cinema's, I became a student-supervisor, guiding a team of stewards through their day-to-day tasks. I handled visitors, answered calls and e-mails and tackled various problems as they occurred. I was also in charge of the money flows throughout the day.
